“Rivals In Rome” is the third in the series of murder mysteries “Murder Under The Sun” by Anders and Anette de la Motte.

In this book, a Swedish film director and his stars have travelled to Rome for inspiration for a new film about the life of Queen Christina. But the intrigues and rivalries in the group come to a head when a body is discovered in one of Rome’s grandest palazzos - and once again tour guide Lara Belmonte and history teacher Hugo Lind have to step in to untangle the mystery.

It’s always a pleasure to paint these sunny Italian scenes, with a tiny hint of menace lurking in the background. The wraparound format is similar to previous books in the series, but this time the colour palette springs from the red and white roses around the window.
