Front cover illustration for Arkitekten magazine, on the theme of changing architecture politics in Sweden.

The article charts changes from the ‘pig party’ of previous years, where high rises were thrown up quickly and cheaply to maximize profits, through ‘gestaltad livsmiljö’, a holistic approach involving multiple agencies and theorists, to ‘Sverigehuset’ proposed by the far-right SD party, identikit old-fashioned wooden houses that could be built without planning permission.

It was a tricky theme to illustrate, but I enjoyed picturing a storybook architect following a winding path through an uncertain landscape. My illustration was drawn in pencil and coloured with gouache.
